Our Educational Ethos

OUR VISION IS TO CREATE A HOLISTIC AND DIVERSE LEARNING ENVIRONMENT FOR OUR CHILDREN

Our mission is to create a relevant and purposeful curriculum for all our pupils. Each pupil follows a coordinated and completely bespoke program of learning that is structured throughout the day.

ETHOS

  • Develop an understanding of the world in which they live
  • Have sound numeracy, literacy and ICT Skills
  • Develop personal and moral values
  • Respect values, cultures, religions and ways of life
  • Acquire knowledge and skills relevant to adult life
  • Take their place in a society as informed, confident and responsible citizens

TEACHING OUR ETHOS

Teaching at The Beeches is the practice carried out by all staff to ensure all students acquire knowledge, skills and understanding as they progress through the curriculum designed to meet their special educational needs. This practise is multi-sensory, language centred and connective. Learning is the process through which the students can develop their knowledge, skills and understanding to the point where they have retained and generalised what has been taught.

Skills that are learnt will be planned and supported by staff who will ensure they are fully relevant and transferable whether they be in the home, the local community or within future placements.

Teaching and learning is carried out in a context that is relevant and meaningful to all students on the autistic spectrum to ensure effective learning and appropriate accreditation.
