Steps for Refugees – Join our Challenge to Help Afghan Refugees

The Beeches are stepping up this October to raise funds for The Refugee Council who have an urgent crisis appeal to help Afghan refugees currently resettling in the UK.

We have set up our Steps for Refugees challenge to help provide life-changing services for refugees arriving in the UK who have lost everything, including mental health support, children’s services and education, employment assistance and English language and integration classes.

The challenge is open to all staff members, young people, friends, family, and colleagues – so please help spread the word!

The challenge will run for the entire month of October where you must:

  1. Take as many steps as possible (between 1st-31st October). We suggest you aim for the following:
    – Beginner level: 100,000 steps
    – Intermediate level: 200,000 steps
    – Advanced level: 300,000 steps
  2. Send a screenshot your steps taken during this period (using whichever tracking app you prefer) by 5pm on Monday 1st November to sanket@silverbirchcare.com.
  3. Donate via our JustGiving page (if you wish) and encourage all your friends, family, and colleagues to also do the same.

Not only will the challenge be a great way of raising money for an extremely vital cause, it’s also a fun way to look after your body and mind. Increasing physical activity can help reduce your risk of chronic disease by up to 40%, as well as reducing stress and some symptoms of mental health conditions, such as depression and anxiety. Remember, every step counts.

We will also be awarding special prizes to the highest step counts.

Start planning how to get the most steps into your day e.g. by walking, dancing, running, cycling, gardening, house cleaning…and please encourage all friends, family, and colleagues to make a donation via our JustGiving page.

Please don’t hesitate to get in touch for more information.
