How long have you worked for us and what makes SBCHL stand out from other care companies?
I joined the company on June 23. I was looking for a new role in care and an opportunity to work with children and where I can progress in the industry.
Describe what your typical day at work looks like?
First thing I have to do when I arrive for work is do my home checks, to make sure the home is safe for the young people we care for. Welfare checks are completed also. Engaging with the young people and supporting them with their meals, laundry, and independent living is a big part of my day.
What do you love about your job?
I love that I am supported by my manager, by giving me direction and development through supervisions. I also love the fact that I have the opportunity to progress in my role through lots of training online and face-to-face.
What learning opportunities have you been given?
Every day is a learning day. Training opportunities throughout my time so far at The Beeches including enrollment to L3 Diploma in Residential Child Care.
Can you describe a fun memory you have had since joining the company?
Christmas 2023. A young person I care for has never had a memorable family Christmas. We made a lovely Christmas dinner, along with presents which we opened together including a Christmas Eve box! On NYE we waited up to midnight and saw the New Year in together. We both made new year resolutions together.

The opportunity of progression within your role
Describe what your typical day at work looks like?
Every day is different, no days are the same, but within my role as a Deputy Manager I have to organise running of shifts, have administration to do, and prioritise workloads for the home. Engaging with the young people and having fun is a priority.
What do you love about your job?
I love the young people! Working with a dynamic team and supporting the children to reach their full potential. Working with behaviours and encouraging independent skills.
What learning opportunities have you been given?
Started as an RCW, promoted to Team Leader and now a Deputy Manager. Throughout my career at the Beeches I have enrolled in L3 and just enrolled in L5 to put me on the path of management.
Can you describe a fun memory you have had since joining the company?
We took the young people on holiday. One of the children who was really quiet came out of his shell by participating in the activities such as biking and engaging with the other children, which was lovely to see.

How long have your worked for us and what makes SBCHL stand out from others care companies?
I started in August 2022 and I was recommended to work at the Beeches by my mother who worked for the company at the time.
Describe what your typical day at work looks like?
Lots of fun with children, good days and bad days, always end on a positive. Activities are always high on the list both indoors and outdoors and new experiences. Making learning fun. Driving simulator for one of the children, YP was in his element.
What do you love about your job?
Opportunities and have been lucky to be recently promoted. Team, work at the home I work in. It doesn’t feel like I am coming to work as the job is so much fun and it’s a bonus we get paid for having a fun role.
What learning opportunities have you been given?
New promotion to a Team Leader will give me further development, and more learning experiences and social skills. NVQ L3, and online training. First aid and PI training was enjoyable too.
Can you describe a fun memory you have had since joining the company?
My favourite one is taking the children to see Father Christmas. Was amazing to see their little face light up. We had a Christmas breakfast too there with Father Christmas and presents were given and activities.

I have worked for The Beeches since Nov 2022 as an RCW. I joined TBL with no past care worker experience, but really wanted to work in the industry and make a difference to the young people even though I was nervous.
Describe what your typical day at work looks like?
Getting children ready for school. Cleaning and I love cooking, they call me Gordon Ramsey! Paperwork has to be completed, organising the shifts for tasks to be completed.
What do you love about your job?
I love helping and supporting the children, help them reach their goals and making a difference.
What learning opportunities have you been given?
I have been provided with all my training when I started, and currently enrolled in my L3. Supervisions to help and support me in my development within my role.
Can you describe a fun memory you have had since joining the company?
